The Master's in Computer Engineering (Maitrise en genie informatique) is a 45-credit graduate program at Universite de Sherbrooke, delivered on the main Sherbrooke campus with admission in the fall, winter and summer terms, full-time or part-time. It offers four tracks leading to two different degrees: two research-stream tracks, a standard research track and an integrated bachelor's-master's research track, leading to the Maitre es sciences appliquees (M.Sc.A.), and two course-based tracks, a general course-based track and an integrated bachelor's-master's course-based track, leading to the Maitre en ingenierie (M.Ing.). Research-stream students plan and manage tasks for a research or technology-development project, apply recognized research methods within their specialty, engage with the scientific literature, and communicate their results to a scientific and technical audience, while course-based students apply advanced knowledge in a specialty area within an authentic professional context and are trained to lead professional development projects and engineering interventions that respond to a client's or employer's specific needs.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:2.70 / 4.3
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (1st cycle) in engineering from a Canadian university or the equivalent, or demonstrate satisfactory preparation based on a bachelor's degree in science, with a cumulative average of at least 2.7 on a 4.3-point scale or equivalent academic results; candidates who do not meet this condition may still be admitted subject to additional preparatory coursework. Course-based tracks admit in the fall term only, except the integrated bachelor's-master's course-based track, which also admits in winter; winter admission to a course-based track otherwise requires 12 completed credits of 2nd-cycle coursework from the Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Robotics Engineering. Candidates in the integrated track must be enrolled full-time in one of those three bachelor's programs at Universite de Sherbrooke, with at least 105 completed credits and a cumulative average of at least 2.7. Research-track applicants must secure a qualified faculty member's agreement to supervise their research. All admitted students must have a functional knowledge of spoken and written French, and a good working knowledge of English is needed to consult scientific and professional publications available only in English.
