The Master's in Gerontology (Maitrise en gerontologie) is a 45-credit second-cycle programme at the Universite de Sherbrooke examining aging from an interdisciplinary perspective spanning bio-health, psychology and sociology. It offers a research stream, on the Sherbrooke campus, in which students acquire concepts, methods and theories from the main disciplines of aging, apply rigorous qualitative and quantitative research methods to an aging-related problem, and disseminate findings to scientific, professional and public audiences; and a coursework stream, delivered partly at a distance in synchronous format, in which students apply gerontological knowledge and project methods to interpret and communicate with older adults, caregivers and professionals in the field. Both streams aim to develop objective, scientific and critical reflection on aging-related problems and to generate new perspectives for action in gerontology. Research-stream applicants require a research-methods course or equivalent; coursework-stream applicants need reliable internet access for web-conferencing.
