This Bachelor of Arts program builds broad historical knowledge across ancient, modern, and contemporary civilizations, combined with training in historiographic method and research. The 90-credit curriculum is typically completed over six trimesters of full-time study, with coursework spanning regional, Quebec, Canadian, and world history alongside contemporary historical research themes. Students develop research, and oral and written communication skills, with opportunities for archaeological fieldwork through UQAR's archaeology and heritage laboratory and access to the heritage-listed Maison Louis-Bertrand as a teaching site. In their final year, students complete either a research thesis or a workplace internship with a cultural organization. Admission requires a Quebec DEC, or alternate routes through an equivalent out-of-province diploma or one year of relevant work, teaching, or study experience in history or the social sciences, along with UQAR's French-language proficiency policy.
