This master's programme trains researchers and specialists able to situate contemporary societies within historical perspective, and is offered by UQAR through an agreement with UQAM. It totals 45 credits: 12 credits of coursework and a 33-credit thesis, reflecting its strong research orientation. Coursework covers historiographical methods and research design, preparing students to carry out independent historical research under faculty supervision toward the thesis, and the programme prepares graduates for doctoral studies in history. Programme length is flexible and depends on the pace of thesis completion rather than a fixed number of trimesters. Courses are generally offered in person during the week, both daytime and evening. Admission is open for the Fall and Winter trimesters. The programme leads to a Master of Arts and is administered under UQAR programme code 1653.
