This certificate programme offers foundational training in history for students who do not intend to specialize further in the discipline. Over 30 credits, students acquire the basic conceptual tools of historical analysis and become familiar with major issues of the contemporary world and how they have evolved over time. Credits earned may be transferred toward related bachelor's programmes in social sciences, history, or combined certificate degrees. The programme is offered full-time or part-time on the Gatineau campus and leads to a first-cycle Certificate in History. Admission is possible with a college diploma (DEC) or equivalent, with a minimum of 15 completed university credits and a stated minimum average, or on the basis of relevant aptitude assessed through a questionnaire and possible interview. Intake occurs in the Fall, Winter, and Summer terms.
