This Certificate in History is a 30-credit undergraduate program offered at the Université de Sherbrooke's main Sherbrooke campus on a full-time or part-time basis, with admission in the fall, winter and summer terms. It gives students foundational knowledge of the history of different civilizations while developing critical thinking and introducing the methods of historical analysis. Coursework is organized into elective blocks covering general historical culture, such as the history of women in the Western world and 19th- and 20th-century Canadian international relations, and the history of the Near and Middle East under the Ottomans, and a methodology block covering the production of history, digital history, and archival research. It suits students seeking a broad grounding in historical knowledge and method, whether as a standalone credential or alongside another program of study.
