This Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) provides specialized 30-credit training in data science and artificial intelligence, combining a research or workplace-based practicum component. Students study the theoretical foundations of data science and AI alongside applied techniques, learning to select methods appropriate to specific problems, design data acquisition and processing architectures, and develop intelligent systems. The curriculum covers performance evaluation metrics and addresses societal issues surrounding AI, including ethics, explainability, and bias. The 21-credit core is complemented by elective blocks in artificial intelligence and data science, plus enrichment courses, letting students deepen expertise in either specialization. Graduates apply their learning through an internship or applied project. The program targets professionals and recent graduates from computing, mathematics, statistics, or engineering backgrounds seeking applied, industry-relevant skills in data science and AI rather than a full research-based master's degree. Admission is offered in the Fall, Winter, and Summer terms.
