Overview
This Bachelor of Science programme prepares professionals in human movement and physical activity, developing expertise in evaluating physical fitness and in planning and prescribing exercise for prevention, rehabilitation and performance. The competency-based curriculum covers the biological, biomechanical, pathological and psychological aspects of human movement alongside clinical training, health promotion and professional communication. The 96-credit programme runs three to four years and includes four internships, with two extended 180-hour professional placements. Graduates qualify for registration with the Fédération des kinésiologues du Québec and work as kinesiologists in clinical, occupational and recreational settings, with pathways to further study in clinical kinesiology, sport performance, ergonomics or occupational health.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec applicants need a DEC in Natural Sciences, a DEC in Sciences, Letters and Arts, an International Baccalaureate in health sciences, a DEC in physiotherapy techniques with specified mathematics, or another DEC completed with biology, mathematics and physics prerequisites; candidates are assessed on academic record quality. Applicants from the rest of Canada need a secondary school diploma plus one university year with satisfactory science preparation in mathematics, physics and biology. International applicants need a pre-university diploma totalling 13 years, or 12 years plus one university year, with satisfactory science preparation. Non-francophone applicants must pass the TCF-TP test (minimum 400/699 mandatory sections, 14/20 written expression) and reach Intermediate English II level (VEPT 53 or higher).
