This Bachelor of Arts in Language Sciences is a 90-credit, three-year full-time program that examines the sounds, words, sentences, and construction of meaning in language, alongside its social, cognitive, and neurobiological dimensions. The curriculum emphasizes contemporary French and its regional variation in a North American context, alongside foundational linguistics including phonetics, semantics, and sociolinguistics. Students choose one of four mandatory concentrations: language, culture and society; language acquisition; language and cognition; or writing and revision. Graduates are prepared for roles in language planning, editing and revision, speech-language pathology preparation, and further graduate study in linguistics. The program admits applicants from Quebec CEGEPs, other Canadian provinces, and international backgrounds.
