Overview
This certificate in Language and Health provides foundational training in language psychology, human communication, linguistics, and the cognitive neuroscience of language and speech, covering child cognitive development, the interrelation between cognitive functions and language, phonetics and cognitive phonology, lexicon and cognitive grammar, and the neurophysiology of language and speech. It is intended as preparation for graduate studies in speech-language pathology and audiology, as well as for people already working in related health, education, or childcare fields who want a stronger grounding in language development. The 30-credit programme is designed to be completed in one year of full-time study and can be followed partially or entirely at a distance. Admission is offered for the Fall, Winter, and Summer terms.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec applicants need any DEC. Applicants from elsewhere in Canada need a secondary school diploma plus one year of university study, assessed on academic record quality. International applicants need 13 years of pre-university education, 12 years plus one year of post-secondary study, a French baccalaureat general ou technologique, or a Belgian certificat d'enseignement secondaire superieur. Non-francophone applicants must score at least 361/699 on the mandatory sections of the Test de connaissance du français (TCF tout public) and at least 8/20 on the written expression component.
