The Certificate in Linguistics at Université Laval provides foundational training in language science with an emphasis on the analysis of French. The 30-credit programme allows students to choose among three areas of concentration and can be completed full-time in about one year or part-time. Up to 15 credits of prior learning may be recognized toward the certificate. Coursework covers core linguistic concepts and methods, giving students the tools to examine language structure and use from multiple analytical perspectives. Admission is open to Quebec DEC holders, to applicants from elsewhere in Canada who have completed secondary school plus one year of university study, and to international applicants with 13 years of pre-university education or equivalent. Non-francophone applicants must demonstrate French proficiency through the Test de connaissance du français. The programme admits students in the Fall and Winter terms and offers flexible full-time or part-time scheduling, with some courses available in distance or hybrid format.
