This doctoral program in linguistics, specializing in language didactics, is a 90-credit degree with an estimated full-time duration of four years. It examines issues in the teaching and learning of second or foreign languages, contributing to practical and theoretical knowledge in the field, with faculty expertise in French-as-a-second-language didactics, English didactics, the psycholinguistics of bilingualism, cooperative learning, digital literacy and second-language competency assessment. Candidates must hold a master's degree in linguistics or education, or an equivalent diploma, and must secure a research supervisor before applying. Admission is offered for the fall and winter terms, and exceptionally in summer. Seminars are scheduled during day and evening hours to accommodate candidates who are already working professionals, allowing the program to be combined with employment in the field.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree in linguistics or education, or a diploma judged equivalent, and must secure a research supervisor before applying. A program or graduation grade point average of at least 3.33 on a 4.33 scale, or the equivalent, is required. Non-francophone applicants must achieve a score of at least 600 out of 699 on the TCF, including at least 14 out of 20 on the written expression component, and at least an Intermediate II level on the Versant English Placement Test (VEPT).
