Overview
The Individualized PhD Program (Doctorat sur mesure) leads to the Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.) and is designed for research topics that no existing doctoral programme covers, where training must draw on multiple fields of knowledge. Students carry out an autonomous, interdisciplinary research project that contributes original knowledge, interpretation, or scientific, technological, or artistic development, and the customized structure requires significant autonomy from candidates. The programme comprises 90 credits with a nominal duration of four years of full-time study and is administered by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (FESP) under the oversight of its Vice-Dean. Before applying, candidates must identify and secure a thesis supervisor whose research interests match the proposed project. Admission requires a master's degree, or equivalent, in a discipline relevant to the proposed research, and a minimum cumulative average of 3.2 on 4.33.
