Social Sciences at University College of the North studies human societies, the environments people live in, and the many ways humans interact with and affect other species and each other. The program introduces students to social inquiry and examines key thinkers, schools of thought, and social issues relevant to northern Manitoba, Canada, and the wider world. It is offered as a three-year or four-year Bachelor of Arts major, delivered in person at the Pas Campus and Thompson Campus. Coursework draws on sociology, anthropology, political studies, and related disciplines to build skills in critical analysis, research, and written communication. Students examine social structures, cultural change, and community dynamics through a mix of theoretical and applied study. The credential prepares graduates for further academic study or entry into fields such as social services, community development, public administration, and education.
