Conservation and Biodiversity is offered as a Major or Specialist (HBSc) at the University of Toronto Scarborough over four years, preparing students to address environmental challenges such as habitat destruction and climate change through the study of how organisms interact with their ecosystems. The curriculum combines required foundational life-science and chemistry courses with specialized conservation coursework, using biological laboratories and planned dedicated facilities at the Toronto Zoo's Community Conservation Centre, for roles in environment, stewardship, and sustainability. A co-op stream is available, comprising two or three full semesters (8 or 12 months) of paid, relevant work experience. A related Health Sciences Stream combining Conservation and Biodiversity with health sciences is offered as direct entry from high school only and is not part of this program.
