Environmental Biology is a Major program within the Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science, offered by the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the St. George campus. Environmental science is an interdisciplinary field integrating biological, chemical and physical sciences to study human interactions with the environment, and the 8.0-credit Major gives students a broad background in biology needed to understand the impact of humans on other organisms and their environments. Coursework covers ecology, the diversity and function of living organisms, the physical and chemical environment, and the ways organisms interact with and affect ecosystem processes, including ecosystem management and environmental change. It can be combined with other Environmental programs, Science programs such as Chemistry and Earth Sciences, or Social Science programs such as Economics. Enrolment is open: a student who has completed 4.0 credits may enrol. It is also offered as a Minor. The program forms part of a four-year Honours Bachelor of Science degree.
