Hons in Physiology (HBSc)

Physiology is an Honours Bachelor of Science program offered at the University of Toronto St. George campus, available as a Specialist, Major, or Minor. The program is the study of living matter in action, integrating physical and life science disciplines to understand body functions and the origins of disease, and unifying the life sciences from molecule to organism by linking genomics and molecular signalling pathways to behaviour and disease. Coursework examines control mechanisms and compensatory processes among biological systems and the interaction between the body's internal and external environments, with research-level specialties spanning endocrinology, cardiovascular physiology, neurophysiology, respiratory physiology, reproductive physiology, and sensory physiology. The Specialist option requires 14.0 credits, including prerequisite courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. Admission to the University requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six Grade 12 U/M-level courses, including English, Biology, Calculus and Vectors, and Chemistry, with Physics recommended.
