Overview
Environment and Health is an undergraduate major offered by Western University's Faculty of Social Science, focused on the relationship between environmental systems and human health through the lens of human and environmental geography. The curriculum draws on courses in environmental systems, human geography and interdisciplinary social science perspectives on health and the environment. Entry requires completion of first-year requirements, including one course from specified Geography and Environment or Environmental Science options completed with a mark of at least 60%; upper-year students may substitute an approved second-year Geography and Environment course at the same standard. The major comprises 6.0 courses. Combining the module with a Major in Science or in Basic Medical Sciences can allow students to graduate with a Four-Year BSc rather than a BA. The program suits students interested in environmental policy, public health, geography and the social dimensions of environmental change.
