Environmental Science is an Honours Specialization offered by the Department of Earth Sciences in Western University's Faculty of Science, drawing on biology, chemistry, earth sciences and environmental-science coursework. The 9.0-course module includes a 3.0-course core spanning Biology 2483A/B, Earth Sciences 2200A/B and 3240F/G, and Environmental Science 2300F/G, 2400A/B and 3350F/G, plus courses chosen from chemistry, statistics and geography/environment options. A further 1.5 courses are drawn from upper-year Earth Sciences electives addressing topics such as hydrogeology, geomorphology and environmental geochemistry. Entry follows a first-year foundation combining biology, chemistry, an environmental-science or earth-science or physics elective, and calculus/mathematics. Teaching is based on Western's main campus in London, Ontario. The interdisciplinary course selection suits students aiming toward careers or graduate study in environmental science, environmental consulting, environmental assessment or related applied earth-science fields.
