Overview
This Bachelor of Applied Science programme in Computer Science for Software Development merges computer science theory with hands-on, industry-inspired project work and team-based software development. Coursework builds skills in programming, web development, system design and problem-solving, alongside emerging AI-enabled technologies, while also examining ethics, privacy and the societal effects of computing. A paid co-op option is available from second year, with 4-, 8- or 12-month placements at organizations including IBM, CGI, RBC, Thales and Ontario government agencies. The programme is delivered on campus, offered exclusively at York University's Markham Campus, within the Lassonde School of Engineering, and admits new students in the Fall term only. It leads to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree and prepares graduates for roles such as software developer, full-stack software engineer, cybersecurity analyst, data scientist and machine learning specialist.

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) applicants need ENG4U, MHF4U, one of SBI4U/SCH4U/SPH4U, plus three additional Grade 12 U or M courses, with each prerequisite completed at a minimum of 70% and a final average of at least 78% required to maintain the offer; the competitive admission average is typically in the low 80s (OUAC code YMF). Applicants from other Canadian provinces need the equivalent senior English, pre-calculus/advanced mathematics and science courses, generally at a low-80s average with 78% required to maintain the offer.
