Overview
This programme builds creative and technical skills for the game and media-art industries within combined art and information-technology study, supplemented by hands-on practice in visual arts, industry work, and game development, fostering interdisciplinary teamwork for diverse careers in the growing game industry. Learning outcomes include understanding the concepts and historical development of media art, interactive digital art, video games, and informatics, applying traditional and new digital technologies in the creative process, and conducting independent research into interactive digital art to inform creative decisions. Special abilities cover generating ideas and demonstrating technological skills such as programming, presenting creative work and portfolios in more than one language, producing an interactive digital art project in the form of a video game, and understanding the video-game and media-art markets well enough to position one's own work in them. Social skills address working with clients and collaborators under copyright, labour-law, and ethical rules, taking responsibility for team outcomes and adapting to change. Teaching is student-centred and project-based, with close ties to the games industry through practitioner lecturers and internships.
