Overview

General Description: Objective(s) of a study programme: To prepare qualified renewable energy engineering specialists who are able to design, install and operate renewable energy systems, able to work in a team and independently, integrating legal, social and economic aspects. Learning outcomes: Knowledge and its application 1. Describe the conceptual foundations of engineering and analyze renewable energy sources by applying the results and methods of fundamental and applied scientific research. 2. Be familiar with modern information and communication systems and be able to select and apply them to the analysis of renewable energy source objects. 3. Apply the principles of operation of renewable energy sources when developing hybrid renewable energy source systems. Research skills 4. Conduct research on the efficiency of renewable energy sources by analyzing physical performance characteristics and conceptual systems. 5. Economically and financially substantiate the project of renewable energy sources, assessing the impact of their activities and their results on the welfare of society and sustainable development. Special skills 6. Plan and organize the design, installation, adjustment and operation of renewable energy sources. 7. Prepare renewable energy source systems for operation in accordance with the requirements of technical specifications. 8. Design electricity generation and storage systems using process visualization software. 9. Assess the operational condition of renewable energy sources, identify and eliminate faults and provide maintenance recommendations. 10. Create databases for storing data on the operating parameters of renewable energy sources. Social skills 11. Communicate and work in a diverse team, guided by the principles of professional ethics. Personal skills 12. Plan and organize engineering activities in accordance with legal acts, making decisions on the implementation of activities and taking responsibility for the quality of activities. 13. Independently plan professional development activities in the context of lifelong learning. Activities of teaching and learning: Interactive theory lectures – explanation during lectures along with analysis of practical examples, demonstration of method application, discussion, seminar, group-work, brainstorming, and case analysis. Practical in computer classrooms, laboratory and practical works, solving of practical tasks, interactive solving of tasks, analysis of drawings, laboratory works in a virtual environment, report of laboratory and practical work, practical test tasks, application of knowledge about the limits of laboratory equipment application. Execution of project – consultation, self-study, work report, presentation and defence. Self-study – report, presentation, demonstration, self-check tests, self-study of scientific literature. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Students’ subject learning outcomes are assessed using a criteria ten-point assessment scheme. Respectively, one or several assessment criteria for study achievements are formulated. Assessment criteria are the basis for preparation of knowledge evaluation tasks of various forms, because the execution of the latter allows drawing conclusions about the level of achievement of the learning outcomes. Assessment procedure, assessment system and assessment criteria are based on the principles of consistency, reliability, clarity, usefulness and impartiality. For the assessment of student’s study subject achievement, accumulative (learning outcomes are assessed by means of intermediate knowledge assessments) or collegial (in case of graduation paper, students are examined by a competent commission consisting of scientists, professional practicians, and representatives of social partners) assessment is used. Framework: Study subjects (modules), practical training: General subjects of college studies - 15 credits: Professional English, Professional Communication, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Ergonomics and Work Safety. Scope of study field subjects – 121 credits, of them: Scope of study field subjects – 79 credits: Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Information Technology, RES Designing, Basics of Programming, Statistics and Data Processing, Electrical Energy, Basics of Automatic Control, Electrical Engineering, Business Systems and Basics of Law, Geothermal Energy, Solar Energy, Electronics and Power Control, Wind Energy, Waste Conversion Technologies, Hybrid RES Systems, Energy Storage, Energy Transfer and Transformations. Distinctive features of a study programme: Green Energy Engineering is a study program that stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, covering both fundamental sciences and specialized subjects dedicated to renewable energy systems. The study program covers such areas as geothermal energy, solar energy, wind energy, bioenergy, hydrogen energy, etc., therefore providing a unique combination of knowledge and practical skills. In addition, attention is paid to advanced technologies, such as hybrid NPP systems, energy storage, and smart grids, which are extremely relevant in today's modern energy industries. This program also stands out for its emphasis on waste conversion technologies and synthetic gas production and storage, emphasizing the principles of the circular economy and sustainability. Compared to other programs, this study program provides a very wide range of knowledge in renewable energy technologies and trains specialists who are able to solve both technical issues in this area and the challenges of sustainability and the circular economy on a global scale. Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Green Energy Engineering specialists will be able to successfully integrate into the labor market in companies involved in electricity, electronics, energy, renewable energy (RE) system design and implementation, and other similar activities. Specialists in this field will be able to integrate into the areas of RE material and digital product development, project creation, and production. They will be able to develop existing RE projects, carry out and plan work on the renovation and efficiency improvement of RE systems. They will be able to work as RE system design and implementation engineers and work managers, as well as in companies engaged in the trade of RE systems and components. They will also be able to successfully work in electricity generation and supply companies. Access to further study: Graduates of Green Energy Engineering study programme can continue studies at master degree level based on Engineering study field programmes.
