Diploma in Applied Chemistry

The Diploma in Applied Chemistry is run by the School of Applied Science at Republic Polytechnic. It applies chemistry to cosmetics, forensic investigation and materials, and students learn by developing products, analysing substances and working in the polytechnic's laboratories. The curriculum combines general modules on innovation and practice with specialist chemistry modules, including materials processing and characterisation. Students personalise the later part of the course by taking electives, following a minor programme or, if eligible, adding a continuing-education certificate. A project module and an industry immersion placement lasting one or two semesters connect classroom learning to workplace practice. Graduates can look toward roles in personal care and beauty, perfumery, pharmaceuticals, forensic science and materials science, where laboratory skills and an understanding of chemical processes are valued.
