Program details

Overview

Fashion Design is a six-session technical DEC at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy teaching students to draw by hand and with software, develop patterns, sew garments and carry a collection through every stage of its creation. Coursework covers fabric recognition, pattern grading, production costing, and 2D/3D pattern-making and design software. The program includes an integrated placement within fashion-industry businesses in Quebec or Europe, optional work-study placements in the first two years, a pedagogical trip to Paris, an optional exchange term at Supmode in Bordeaux, and collaboration with the college's Fashion Marketing students on an annual fashion show. It is open to both beginners and students with prior sewing, drawing or pattern-making experience, and suits those who are passionate about fashion and bring manual dexterity and creativity to design work; a PC laptop is required as the pattern software used is not compatible with Apple devices. International candidates are eligible.

Application Details

Start Date: September
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply directly to Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy rather than through a regional admission service: for September 2027 entry, admission rounds close 1 March, 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027, after which late requests are still accepted case-by-case, subject to space, until the end of the first week of classes; a few contingented programmes such as Police Technology can close earlier once seats fill. International applicants are admitted for the Fall intake only, with applications due by 15 February 2027 for most countries and by 30 April 2027 for French nationals; no winter intake is offered internationally, and CNDF publishes no distinct domestic winter-round dates beyond noting winter admission exists.
