Program details

Overview

Correctional Intervention Techniques (TIMC) is an AEC continuing-education program at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy preparing students to work in provincial and federal correctional settings, transition houses and youth centres, delivered over four sessions totalling roughly sixteen months. The curriculum develops competencies in criminology, law, psychology, stress management and crisis intervention, including techniques for working safely with potentially violent individuals, taught by instructors with experience in federal and provincial corrections. Training combines simulation-based scenarios, tours of facilities at different security levels, and a substantial internship placement within a correctional or related institution; strong internship performance can lead to prompt hiring. It suits adult learners who believe in the social reintegration of people who have offended, manage stress well, maintain good physical condition, work effectively in teams, and bring emotional balance and self-confidence to the work. Admission requires an interview and knowledge-based evaluation, along with appropriate prior schooling or a professional diploma (DEP).

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the AEC in Techniques d'intervention en milieu correctionnel at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy requires the applicant to hold training judged sufficient by the college, together with one of three further conditions: having interrupted full-time studies, or having pursued full-time post-secondary studies for at least two consecutive sessions or one school year; being covered by an agreement between the college and an employer, or benefiting from a government programme; or holding a Diplome d'etudes professionnelles (DEP). Candidates must also pass the programme's evaluation and placement test, made up of an interview and a knowledge test. The page does not publish a minimum grade or average, an age requirement, a criminal-record check, or an English/French language-proficiency test; French is the language of instruction. Admission is offered for the fall session only, with no further intake dates specified on the programme's page.

Application Details

Start Date: September
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply directly to Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy rather than through a regional admission service: for September 2027 entry, admission rounds close 1 March, 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027, after which late requests are still accepted case-by-case, subject to space, until the end of the first week of classes; a few contingented programmes such as Police Technology can close earlier once seats fill. International applicants are admitted for the Fall intake only, with applications due by 15 February 2027 for most countries and by 30 April 2027 for French nationals; no winter intake is offered internationally, and CNDF publishes no distinct domestic winter-round dates beyond noting winter admission exists. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
