Program details

Overview

Police Technology (310.A0) is a technical DEC at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy offered in both a regular six-session format and an accelerated four-session format for students who have already completed general college-level coursework. The program is built around the values of respect, responsibility and cooperation in community-oriented policing, covering law enforcement, crime prevention, peacekeeping and legal procedure. Training is practice-based, using simulation facilities including a mock apartment, convenience store, police station and interrogation room, alongside vehicle-control and preventive-driving instruction and crowd-management exercises run with Quebec police services. A supervised patrol stage with local police services takes place in the final session, and students wear uniforms during courses and community activities. Enrollment is capped and admission is fall-only, requiring Canadian citizenship, a clean record, and evaluation through an interview and physical testing. The program suits students with good judgment, self-control, strong communication skills and leadership potential, in strong physical condition.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Techniques policieres DEC at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy requires a Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) or its recognized equivalent, including Secondary 4 Mathematiques CST, plus Canadian citizenship and good conduct, with no conviction anywhere for an act or omission under Canada's Criminal Code. Selection is competitive: candidates complete a mandatory eight-minute interview assessing occupational knowledge and interest (weighted 50%) and mandatory physical tests (weighted 50%); the physical tests are not pass/fail but are used to rank applicants for admission. The accelerated stream additionally requires the applicant to have already completed Quebec collegial general-education coursework. The college strongly recommends, but does not require, a full medical examination certified by an occupational-medicine clinic. No English or French language test is published; French is the language of instruction. Admission is offered for the fall session only.

Application Details

Start Date: September
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply directly to Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy rather than through a regional admission service: for September 2027 entry, admission rounds close 1 March, 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027, after which late requests are still accepted case-by-case, subject to space, until the end of the first week of classes; a few contingented programmes such as Police Technology can close earlier once seats fill. International applicants are admitted for the Fall intake only, with applications due by 15 February 2027 for most countries and by 30 April 2027 for French nationals; no winter intake is offered internationally, and CNDF publishes no distinct domestic winter-round dates beyond noting winter admission exists. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
