This three-year DEC trains electrical engineering technologists specializing in industrial automation and control, aligned with Industry 4.0 and AI-driven manufacturing trends. Students learn to locate, analyze, and diagnose malfunctions in industrial equipment and systems, repair and maintain that equipment, and contribute to developing technological solutions that optimize industrial processes, including automating existing equipment. Coursework covers robotics, electrical motors, industrial network architecture, augmented-reality applications for maintenance and training, and programmable logic controller (PLC) programming. Hands-on laboratory work takes place using equipment representative of real industrial facilities, giving students direct experience with the automated systems they will maintain and improve after graduation. Graduates are prepared for roles as automation and control technologists in manufacturing plants, process industries, and engineering support teams, combining electrical, mechanical, and software skills to keep industrial systems running efficiently and safely.
