Technologie d'analyses biomédicales is a technical DEC that trains medical laboratory technologists who produce the results behind the large majority of medical diagnoses. Graduates work across microbiology, biochemistry, pathology, hematology, hemostasis, blood banking, and specimen collection. The program is taught by experienced professionals using a practical approach, with students working with modern laboratory equipment and professional software used in the field. Training is carried out in close collaboration with the hospital sector, where most of the program's 22 weeks of credited clinical placements take place: a one-week specimen-collection placement in the third term at a CLSC or hospital collection centre, followed by 21-week terminal placements in the sixth term at a hospital, generally running from early December to late May. The program suits students with an aptitude for scientific work, an interest in teamwork, organizational skills, and an interest in the medical field; some students are eligible for Quebec government scholarships aimed at the medical-imaging and medical-biology-laboratory sectors.
