Overview
This program offers dynamic laboratory experiences led by industry professionals, providing real-world insights and hands-on experience. Students will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative research projects, fostering a learning environment that goes beyond textbooks, creating a graduate with a skill set employers want. Students will also get to learn and work in Fanshawe's Centre for Applied Research in Biotechnology (CARIB). This space features over 13,000 square feet filled with new biology, chemistry, instrumentation and physics teaching laboratories. Plus, there are biosafety level 2 tissue culture facilities and labs.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD, from the College, University, University/College or Open streams) with any Grade 12 English (C or U); one Grade 12 Math credit – Mathematics for College Technology (C, preferred), Foundations for College Mathematics (C), Advanced Functions (U), Calculus and Vectors (U), or Mathematics of Data Management (U); Grade 11 Biology (C or U); and Grade 12 Chemistry (C or U), each with a minimum final grade of 60%. English language proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 4.5 overall with no section below 4 (79 on the pre-2026 scale), PTE Academic 53, Duolingo English Test 105 with no section below 95, or CAEL 60 overall with no section below 50 (80 in listening). This is a demanding program: students should be ready to commit to lab work and coursework within tight timeframes, and to buy two lab coats and safety goggles. Before starting, students complete a mandatory WRIT placement assessment.
