Program details

Overview

Techniques de genie mecanique is a three-year technical DEC that trains specialists able to design, manufacture and maintain mechanical systems, drawing on physics, motion analysis and automated systems. Students learn computer-aided design and drafting, metrology, mechanical design, hydraulics and pneumatics, tooling design, and robot programming. Partway through the program, students choose a specialization: Conception, focused on computer-aided design and assembly using software such as CATIA and SolidWorks with related calculation concepts, or Fabrication, focused on analyzing manufacturing processes and using computer-aided manufacturing software to generate programs for CNC machine tools; students can also complete both specializations by extending their studies to four years. An alternance travail-etudes option lets most students complete paid work placements of eight to thirteen weeks, including opportunities in France through partnership agreements. A DEP-DEC bridge lets holders of a vocational diploma in machining complete the program on an accelerated five-session track, and graduates can continue toward a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at university. The program suits students drawn to building, testing and improving physical mechanisms and machinery.
