Admission Requirements: DOMESTIC APPLICANTS How to apply. Submit your application through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca; the Cégep also has its own FAQ if you have questions about the process. Academic basis. You qualify by holding: a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES); or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) plus passes in 5th-secondary language of instruction, 5th-secondary second language and 4th-secondary mathematics; or training the Cégep judges equivalent. Individual programs can add their own prerequisites (some named courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry or biology) and, occasionally, a test, interview or audition - check the program you want. Out-of-province Canadian applicants follow the same calendar as Quebec applicants (1 March for a Fall start); you need at least 11 years of schooling completed (a full high-school diploma is strongly recommended) plus courses equivalent to the required prerequisites - each file is reviewed individually. Selection. School-record quality is the College's main selection criterion for every program: for secondary-school applicants, 4th- and 5th-secondary results as they stand when you apply; college-level results also count for anyone who has already attended cégep. The College states it gives weight to French-language mastery in admission decisions generally, particularly for the Arts, lettres et communication programs. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS Program availability. Saint-Laurent accepts international students into most of its programs. Fall-session programs (most start in late August): pre-university - Arts visuels, Cinéma et communication, all three-year Double DEC combinations, Langues, Littérature, Musique, Sciences humaines, Sciences de la nature, Théâtre; technical - Environnement/hygiène/sécurité au travail, Gestion et intervention en loisir, Technologie du génie électrique, Techniques de bioécologie, Techniques de génie mécanique, Techniques professionnelles de musique et chanson, Technologie de l'architecture, Technologie de l'eau. Winter-session programs (may need one or two extra sessions to finish): pre-university - Sciences humaines, Sciences de la nature; technical - Environnement/hygiène/sécurité au travail, Gestion et intervention en loisir, Internet et robotique, Techniques de bioécologie, Technologie de l'eau. How to apply. Apply online through SRAM, which also lists the prerequisites for each program. Deadlines: 14 March for a Fall start, 31 May for a Winter start. Language. A language test is required for most international applications, whether or not you were schooled in the Cégep's language of instruction. Accepted French tests: Bright, TCF tout public (TCF Québec and TCF Canada are NOT accepted), DELF tout public niveau B2, DALF, TEF (TEF Express, TEF Québec and TEF Canada are NOT accepted; required sections: compréhension écrite, compréhension orale, lexique et structure). Indicative minimum: at least 467 on the TCF. After an offer. Obtain a CAQ (Certificat d'acceptation du Québec) from Quebec's immigration ministry (MIFI), then a Canadian study permit from IRCC, plus - if your program requires work experience - a co-op work-permit. Mandatory medical/hospital insurance applies unless you qualify for reciprocal RAMQ coverage or are exempt. Costs (approximate, per session, two sessions/year, non-French-citizens): $7,210 for pre-university programs and human techniques, $9,333 for physical techniques and arts/letters techniques, $11,174 for biological techniques; $1,833/session for non-Quebec-resident Canadians (fee table). Mandatory fees for 2024-25: $85 SRAM file-analysis fee, $183.25/session full-time (subject to change), plus textbooks. A tuition exemption (for non-French-citizens admitted to a three-year technical program) is available on application after admission, subject to a Cégep pre-selection and final Fédération des cégeps approval; French-citizenship holders are exempt from supplementary international fees under the France-Québec agreement.
