Program details

Overview

Tremplin DEC is a transitional pathway rather than a full program of collegial studies, intended for students who are not yet ready to enter a regular pre-university or technical program. The cegep's page describes two options. Under Integration aux etudes collegiales, students complete secondary-level courses still missing from their file, such as mathematics, physical science and chemistry at the secondary IV or V level, that are prerequisites for the program they eventually want to join. Under Planification du cheminement scolaire et professionnel, students instead sample courses drawn from several different programs to help clarify which field suits them before committing. No prior secondary-level prerequisites are required for admission, and places are not subject to a competitive quota. The page emphasizes personalized support: course selection is adapted to each student's specific needs and interests, with staff helping students identify a suitable direction at their own pace. Once ready, a Tremplin DEC student must apply to transfer into a regular program, whether pre-university or technical, since Tremplin DEC itself does not lead to a DEC. Admission is possible in the Fall or Winter session.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission follows Cégep de Saint-Laurent's general conditions, applied for through SRAM: a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES); a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) plus passes in 5th-secondary language of instruction, 5th-secondary second language and 4th-secondary mathematics; or training the Cégep judges equivalent. The Tremplin DEC pathway itself states no further course prerequisite and is non-quota: applications meeting the general conditions are generally admitted. It runs on both the Fall and Winter intakes and lets a student take courses toward Intégration aux études collégiales, to complete prerequisites for a chosen program, or toward Planification du cheminement scolaire et professionnel, to explore program options before committing.
