Overview
This Double DEC combines the jazz stream of the Musique program with the Beaux-arts profile of Arts visuels, letting students earn two diplomas over three years rather than choosing between the two fields. On the music side, the jazz stream develops performance, composition, arrangement, technology, or research skills, supported by a dedicated music pavilion, music-technology labs, recording studios, soundproof practice rooms, and a concert hall with a grand piano, along with master classes from visiting artists and specialists that prepare students for post-secondary music auditions. On the visual-arts side, the Beaux-arts profile centres on drawing, painting, and sculpture, with access to workshops for engraving, ceramics, woodworking, and a darkroom, plus a landscaped campus supporting environmental art and a sculpture park. Students in both fields can exhibit work or perform publicly, build a professional portfolio, and, in visual arts, potentially sell a piece into the college's permanent collection. As with the college's other Double DEC programs, students receive additional pedagogical support in recognition of the heavier combined course load. Requirements
Admission Requirements: This double-DEC pairs Musique with Arts visuels. The college's double-DEC admissions page sets no course prerequisite for either half beyond the general secondary-diploma requirement, but admission to the Musique half is conditional on a live audition held around mid-March, for which a preparatory workbook is provided; no portfolio is specified for the Arts visuels half. Applicants qualify with a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) from the youth or adult sector, or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) plus passes in fifth-secondary language of instruction, fifth-secondary second language and fourth-secondary mathematics, or training the Cégep judges equivalent. No distinct English- or French-language test score is set; language ability is covered by those fifth-secondary language courses. Candidates must also meet the Ministry's program-specific admission conditions, the Cégep's own admission policy and Règlement no. 12 on academic success.
