Technologie d'analyses biomédicales is a technical DEC preparing students for laboratory work in the medical field, where graduates perform biomedical analyses that support physicians in diagnosing and treating disease. Training takes place in laboratories equipped with specialized instruments and equipment reflecting current workplace practice, under the guidance of a team of teachers and lab technicians. The program combines simulated work scenarios modelled on the realities of a medical laboratory technologist's job with a one-week clinical placement beginning in the second year, followed by six consecutive clinical placements (stages) over a six-month period closer to graduation. Students also learn to operate a range of specialized instruments, software, and technology applications used in biomedical laboratories. The college offers an optional one-day exploratory activity, pairing prospective students with someone currently in the program to observe part of a laboratory session and ask questions about the profession and program. It suits students drawn to laboratory science and diagnostic work who want a technical, hands-on health-sciences career with substantial clinical placement experience built into the curriculum.
