Overview

This pre-university program (500.AG) is the Cinéma option within the Arts, Lettres et Communication DEC at Collège Ahuntsic. It combines theory, analysis, and creative practice around film, covering screenwriting, directing, cinematography, and sound design across creation courses taken every session, with a film production completed each term and a final synthesis project in the fourth session. The page describes an exchange trip to Cannes for second-year students and a study trip to the Hot Docs documentary festival in Toronto starting in the first year. Students also take part in a student-run film club and museum visits, and collaborate with the Graphisme program on a cultural magazine. The DEC prepares graduates for university studies in fields such as cinema, communication, journalism, television, public relations, law, and teaching. It suits students who want to build a critical and cultural understanding of film, experiment with varied creative techniques, and take part in discussions and analysis of cinema and art.
