Overview
The Marine Cook program prepares students for galley work aboard seafaring vessels. Coursework combines classroom instruction with Marine Emergency Duties certification and a 30-day sea-service placement in a ship's galley. Graduates also complete Marine Advanced First Aid, Security Awareness Training for Seafarers, and Basic Safety Training under STCW95, and are prepared to sit Transport Canada's theory and practical exams for Ship's Cook certification. It is a full-time, 41-week Certificate program delivered on-campus. Admission requires high school graduation, Adult Basic Education Level III with the General College, Business, or Degree and Technical Profile including recommended mathematics and science courses, a Trades Bridging Certificate, a College Transition Certificate, or qualification as a mature student. A medical examination by a Transport Canada-approved Marine Medical Examiner is required for admission.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet one of the following: High School Graduation; Adult Basic Education (Level III) Graduation with General College Profile, Business Related, or Degree and Technical Profile, preferably including Mathematics 1102A/B/C and 2012A/2102B/2102C or 3102A/B/C and Science 3101, 3102, 3103; Trades Bridging Certificate; College Transition Certificate; or Mature Student Requirements (at least 19 years of age, out of school one year minimum, considered individually). A medical examination by a Transport Canada-approved Marine Medical Examiner is required for admission.
