Welding Engineering Technician (Co-op) is a two-year diploma at College of the North Atlantic that trains technicians to act as liaisons between engineers and welding practitioners, managing quality control systems, examining industry standards, and performing non-destructive testing of welded materials. Coursework covers welding processes, materials science, non-destructive testing, and CAD/CAM technology in state-of-the-art facilities. The program is delivered on-campus at the Burin campus through the School of Natural Resources & Industrial Trades. Admission requires a High School Graduation Certificate with a 60 percent overall average including English, Mathematics, and Science credits, a College Transition Certificate, Adult Basic Education (Level III) graduation, or mature student status. Students must pass respirator fit testing before practical training, given potential exposure to airborne hazards during welding. The program begins each September and currently admits both domestic and international applicants.
