Overview
Lakehead University's Computer Science program leads to an honours or regular Bachelor of Science and is offered at the Thunder Bay, Orillia, and Barrie STEM Hub campuses, with two program streams focused on Business or Science. Coursework covers core computer science fundamentals alongside specialized areas such as game programming, mobile computing, health informatics, big data, and cloud computing, supported by access to a high-performance computing cluster and a 3D virtual reality lab. A Game Programming specialization is open to all majors, and a Health Informatics specialization is also available. The program includes an optional co-operative education stream, with work placements typically beginning in the winter term of third year; a dedicated faculty member provides additional programming support for first- and second-year students with limited prior coding background.
