Overview
Lakehead University's MA in Sociology is a course-based graduate program that deepens students' knowledge of the societies they live in while building their ability to think independently and critically about social issues. The Department of Sociology also offers specializations in Gender and Women's Studies, Gerontology, and Social Justice Studies alongside the general Sociology degree. Admission requires a four-year bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, from a recognized institution, with at least second-class (B) standing based on the applicant's last 20 half courses or their equivalent. The program admits students in both the Fall and Winter terms, and students must complete all degree requirements within six terms, or two years, of continuous registration. Graduates are prepared for further doctoral study or careers applying sociological analysis in research, policy, and community settings.
