Overview
The Recreation Leadership Diploma focuses on how to lead, instruct, facilitate, motivate, and supervise within the recreation field. You will also learn how to design, implement, and market quality programs, services and special events for diverse participants. There is also the opportunity to partake in an internship placement. The skill sets you develop will be able to be applied in a recreation, health promotion, community service, tourism, and/or volunteer setting. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) or to be 19 or older; international applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent). English proficiency is Category 2, Langara's baseline: English Studies 12/Literary Studies 12 at 50%, IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), Duolingo 110, CAEL 60, or PTE Academic 56. Applicants complete a Supplemental Recreation Program Application Form. A medical examination may be required before the first day of classes because of the outdoor field-school component (RECR 1162) in the first term. Admission does not guarantee registration in required courses, and some admitted students may need additional English coursework to meet course-level English prerequisites.
