Wind Turbine Technician is a one-year certificate covering the skills needed to inspect, maintain, and repair wind turbine components. Students train on actual turbine components, work toward globally recognized safety certifications, and may qualify to write the first-year Electrician Apprenticeship exam on completion. The program is delivered on campus in a face-to-face format, with lectures, labs, and hands-on training at the main Lethbridge Polytechnic campus. It is offered at Lethbridge Polytechnic to both domestic and international students. Intakes run in September. Non-academic entry expectations reflect the physical demands of turbine work: applicants must be able to climb ladders 60 to 125 metres in height, lift up to 22.5 kilograms, and work at heights, and must supply their own coveralls or work clothes and steel-toed boots. Graduates enter the wind energy sector as technicians or pursue further electrical apprenticeship.
