The Primary Care Paramedic diploma prepares students to provide emergency medical care to sick and injured patients. The two-year programme combines classroom lectures with simulation training, hospital practicum placements, and advanced life support ambulance service training, including 520 hours of work-integrated learning in hospital and ambulance settings. Students train in Lethbridge Polytechnic's Simulation Hub, one of only four healthcare simulation centres in Canada accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Graduates are prepared to work in emergency departments, industrial sites and ambulance services. The programme is delivered face-to-face on the main Lethbridge Polytechnic campus, with a September intake, and requires applicants to already hold Medical First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder certification. It is currently not open to international students.
