Electrical Installations Technology is a two-year diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, delivered on campus in Edmonton, focused on the technical and career-essential skills needed to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The program combines hands-on training with theoretical instruction in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, graphs, and the Canadian Electrical Code Part I. It also serves as an alternative pathway into apprenticeship training in the electrical trade. Learning outcomes include identifying safety hazards, applying electrical theory and mathematics, and installing, analyzing, and maintaining rotating, static, and solid-state electrical equipment and controls. Graduates can pursue careers in construction and estimation or proceed toward an Electrician Journeyperson certificate through apprenticeship. It suits students who want practical, code-based electrical training with a route into the trades rather than a broader engineering-technology credential.
