Game Development - Animation and Game Design is a two-year diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology that provides a foundation in the technical and creative aspects of game creation, with this specialization focused on the artistic side of building game and animation experiences. Using industry-standard software and programming languages, students explore the principles of animation, storytelling, and visual design while learning to create interactive digital worlds, 2D and 3D assets, and dynamic game environments. The program is delivered in a hybrid format at the Edmonton campus and admits students in both the Fall and Winter terms. Graduates are prepared for roles in the gaming industry such as illustrator, game artist, animator, and media designer. It suits students who want to specialize in the art and design side of game development rather than the programming-focused Game Development stream.
