Overview

Environmental Studies is an undergraduate degree offered by Queen's University's School of Environmental Studies, leading to a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree. The program takes an integrative, interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues, covering the health of ecosystems and human populations alongside the social, cultural, and economic systems connected to sustainability. Students can pursue the subject as a Modular Major (ENVS-M), a Specialization (ENVS-S), a General Arts plan, or a Minor, all administered by the School of Environmental Studies, which also offers related science-stream plans in Environmental Science, Environmental Biology, Environmental Chemistry, Earth Systems Science, and Environmental Geology. Plan advising is coordinated through the School of Environmental Studies, based in the BioSciences Complex on Queen's Kingston campus. Degree requirements for students entering a plan in 2026/27 follow the current Faculty of Arts and Science calendar; students who entered a plan in Environmental Studies prior to 2025 follow the archived calendar requirements for their entry year.
