The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Queen's University offers a Master of Engineering (MEng) and a Master of Applied Science (MASc). The MEng is a one-year, course-based program. The MASc is a two-year program combining coursework with a research thesis. An Accelerated Master's Program (16-20 months, including coursework, a seminar course, and a research thesis) is also open to qualifying third-year undergraduate students. Research is organized around four core groups: Biomechanical Engineering, Design and Manufacturing, Energy and Fluid Systems, and Materials Engineering. Admission requires an honours bachelor's degree in Applied Science or Engineering with a minimum B average; the GRE is not required. Applicants whose first language is not English must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. The department also participates in collaborative programs in Applied Sustainability and Biomedical Engineering.
