Program details

Overview

The Centre for Neuroscience Studies at Queen's University offers an interdisciplinary, thesis-based Master of Science (MSc) program spanning the full range of neuroscience research, from cellular and molecular approaches to neuronal systems, whole-organism, and clinical studies. Students work with a faculty supervisor drawn from a wide range of research backgrounds and complete a research thesis describing original work. Admission is competitive and applicants are encouraged to contact potential supervisors before applying, though a confirmed supervisor is not required at the time of application. A combined BScH/MSc or BAH/MSc pathway allows strong fourth-year honours students to begin graduate-level coursework early and enter the graduate program with advanced standing.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 3.00 / 4.0
Admission Requirements: Applicants require second-class standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA (overall B average) in an honours bachelor's degree in Arts or Science, a bachelor's degree in Applied Science, a Doctor of Medicine degree, or the equivalent; a four-year degree with laboratory experience is considered equivalent to an honours bachelor's degree. Applications are made directly to the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs and must include the application form, two official transcripts from each university attended, two letters of recommendation from professors, and the required application fee. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as the program is highly competitive.
