Overview
Smith Executive MBA - The National Program is a 16-month part-time MBA offered by Smith School of Business at Queen's University, delivered to a cohort of experienced professionals from across Canada. The program starts each August and combines team-based learning (teams of 5 to 7 members) with a strong international and global-business focus, including a Global Business Project and a mandatory international study elective. Depending on location, participants attend classes in a Boardroom Learning Centre in one of several major Canadian cities (Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver) or join live, interactive sessions remotely via Smith's Desktop Learning technology, alongside required in-person sessions and international travel. The curriculum draws on Smith's SmithEdge leadership-development suite and dedicated team coaching to build management and leadership capability while participants continue working.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is assessed holistically rather than by fixed academic cut-offs. Applicants must show management or project/people-management experience; while most admitted applicants have around 10 years of work experience, candidates with strong progressive professional experience are also considered. An undergraduate degree is encouraged but not required for applicants with extensive experience, though those without one must complete the Executive Assessment. Applicants must be living and working in North America. The application includes an online form, resume, transcripts, two references, three application questions, and an interview with the Program Director. There is no application fee, and admission is competitive.
