The Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate is a one-year, blended program that trains students to collect, receive, and process laboratory specimens, including collecting blood specimens, preparing reagents, performing electrocardiograms, and interpreting and releasing urinalysis results. The program combines daytime in-person classes with online learning and concludes with a six-week off-campus practicum in clinical laboratory training; the Fall intake spans the fall and winter terms, while the Winter intake spans winter and the following fall term, with a break over spring and summer. Admission for the 2026-2027 year requires specific grades in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. Students with a Study Permit must have no health or education work restrictions.
