Overview
This bachelor's degree program prepares students for professional nursing practice, integrating classroom theory with clinical practice throughout each of four ten-month academic years, delivered over a total of 32 months using a blended learning approach. It is offered at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg, open to Manitoba residents generally, and at regional Portage and Winkler campuses restricted to residents of the Southern Health Region; students at the regional campuses travel to Winnipeg for a portion of each term. The final year concludes with a senior clinical practicum of 450 hours. Graduates are eligible to write the NCLEX-RN examination and apply for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba. The program suits individuals pursuing a nursing career who are prepared for a structured combination of academic coursework and hands-on clinical experience across a range of care settings from the first year onward, and prospective applicants will be invited to attend a program overview information session before starting the program.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:2.50 / 4.5
Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 graduation with English (40S) and Applied Math or Pre-Calculus Math (40S) each at a minimum of 70% or a B, or equivalent 1000-level-or-higher university English and Math courses; post-secondary applicants need at least 24 credits of 1000-level coursework. All applicants must also complete six credits of Human Anatomy and Physiology, including a lab component, at a minimum grade of C+, taken within the five years before the program start. A minimum adjusted grade point average (AGPA) of 2.5 on a 4.5 scale is required, though admission is competitive and seats are ranked by AGPA within each category. Applicants who completed three years of full-time secondary or post-secondary education in English in Canada, the US, or an ELR-exempt country meet the language requirement; others must submit IELTS Academic (overall 7.0, no band below 6.5), CAEL (overall 70, writing 60), CELBAN (8L/8S/8R/7W), or TOEFL iBT (4.0 overall, minimum 3.5 per component). The Notre Dame campus is open to Manitoba residents only, and the Portage/Winkler intake is restricted to the Southern Health Region. A current First Aid certificate is required, and a criminal record check plus child- and adult-abuse-registry checks are needed before placement; international applicants must first complete RRC's International Pathway for Nursing.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic and international applicants apply directly to RRC Polytech. The college states that most programs, including many trades and technology diplomas, have no fixed application deadline and remain open for registration until the program start date or until seats fill, while a smaller set of higher-demand programs (started in August or September) does carry a published deadline, listed through an interactive search tool on the college's Application Deadlines page. The specific cut-off dates for individual programs, and any distinct international deadline, could not be extracted from that page by automated means, so admission for most of this institution's programs is best treated as rolling rather than tied to a fixed date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
